House System And Pastoral Care

Home - School Life - House System And Pastoral Care

Pastoral care underpins everything we do at Ambassador International Academy. Pastoral care and academic progress are inextricably linked. We focus on cultivating and promoting an environment that supports the physical, social, emotional and intellectual growth of each student. Pastoral care is most effective when there is a strong partnership between home and school. Clear two-way communication is vital to the effective exercise of pastoral care.

Ambassador International Academy has a House system. The House system is part of the pastoral framework at Ambassador International Academy. There are four Houses: Hawks, Nightingales, Ravens and Weavers. Each student is assigned to a House when they join and siblings always belong to the same House. All academic staff are also assigned to a House. The House system fosters sociability, teamwork and healthy competition, giving students a sense of belonging to the school community.

Students compete in their Houses at various events throughout the year encompassing sport, music and other completions for which House points are awarded. House points are also given in the classroom for exceptional work or behaviour. At the end of the academic year, a cup is awarded to the House with the most points; always very keenly contested!
